Q. What is the Chamber of Commerce and what does it do?
A. The Chamber of Commerce is a membership-driven non-profit society,
whose role it is to assist members with growing their business.
Q. Does the Chamber of Commerce have any networking events for their
members?
A. Yes. Almost every month, the Chamber features at least one networking event
held in the evening.
Q. Are Chamber events open to the public?
A. Yes. For the sake of networking, it's important to have as many
people in attendance as possible. Non-members however, might be required
to pay a higher price and may not be permitted to participate in
all activities.
Q. Do you promote local businesses and if so, how?
A. Yes. We promote our members verbally, on our Website, in the newspaper,
through fax out, mail out and brochure racking.
Q. Does joining the Chamber help me to save money?
A. Yes. There are numerous programs, offering savings on everything
from filling up your gas tank to extended
health benefits. Member-to-Member
discounts provide a diverse range of products and services as well.
Q. How many members does the Chamber have?
A. 335 (as at May 29, 2011)
Q. What if I live or work outside of the city? Can I still join the
New Westminster Chamber of Commerce?
A. Yes.
Q. What if I already belong to another Chamber?
A. This does not prevent you from joining the New Westminster Chamber
of Commerce.
Q. What do I have to do to join the Chamber?
A. Simply fill out an Application
Form and arrange payment of the Membership
Fee.
Q. Can anybody join?
A. Yes.
Q. How much does it cost to join the Chamber?
A. The fee varies according to the number of full-time employees within
the company.
Q. Is the Membership Fee tax deductible?
A. Yes, the Membership Fee is 100% tax deductible.
Q. What if I'm joining later than January? Do I still have to pay
for the full year?
A. Yes. Your membership is effective for one full calendar year, no
matter what date you join.
